Travel into the brain to see what happens when you fall in love and explore how the brain responds to heartbreak.
--
Love is often described as heartwarming, heart-wrenching, or even heartbreaking— and your brain is responsible for all these feelings. The journey from first spark to the last tear is guided by a symphony of neurochemicals and brain systems. Shannon Odell explores what happens in your brain when you fall in love, how it responds to a relationship, and how it reacts to a breakup.
Lesson by Shannon Odell, directed by Biljana Labović.

Everything consists of atoms - This knowledge is about 100 years old. But today we know much more than that, because the supposedly smallest particles of matter are actually something like tiny universes. So is it possible that we ourselves and our universe are in fact just a tiny particle in a much larger world?

Invisible microbes have created some of the largest structures on the planet. Mycorrhizal fungi form extraordinary subterranean networks that associate symbiotically with plant roots. Most land plants, including many human crops, need mycorrhizae for optimal growth, but recent research has shown they also play important roles in forest-wide communication and may even turn some trees into carnivores. More dramatically, microbial communities have created global landmarks ranging from the White Cliffs of Dover to the Great Barrier reef.
