Surfside building collapse: 8 more bodies found bringing death toll to 54, officials say | LIVE

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced Wednesday evening that eight more bodies had been found at the site of the Surfside building collapse, bringing the death toll to 54.

County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava reported on Wednesday morning that search and rescue workers had recovered an additional 10 victims from the rubble of a collapsed condo building in Surfside, Fla., bringing the death toll to 46 as the search entered its 14th day.

Workers continued to sift through the rubble of the collapsed Champlain Towers South building in warm, dry conditions as Tropical Storm Elsa battered western Florida on the opposite side of the state, moving further away from the site.

As of Wednesday, 86 people remain "potentially" unaccounted for, Levine Cava said.
