As Manitoba becomes the worst hot spot for COVID-19 in North America, Premier Brian Pallister and chief medical officer of health Dr. Brent Roussin will address new public health orders on Thursday.
Manitoba had already extended COVID-19 public health orders by three days to this Saturday to curb rising case numbers.
The restrictions include a ban on gathering with people outside a household and allow for only one person from each household to go into a business, with some exceptions for single parents and those needing a caregiver.
The province announced 312 new COVID-19 cases and one additional death Wednesday.
The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 13.3 per cent provincially and health officials say 4,792 cases remain active across Manitoba.
