How hospitals deal with surging numbers of patients in need of intensive care | COVID-19 Special

Since the beginning of the pandemic, one message has been consistent – infection rates need to be kept as low as possible to avoid intensive care units being overwhelmed. Because when that happens, patients who would recover with the right care may not be able to receive it. Doctors and nurses then face the desperate choice of who to treat.
With Covid 19’s second wave now sweeping across the world again, have lessons been learned from the first wave to avoid this scenario? Are hospitals better prepared?
