Video captured the moment a home in the southern state of Kerala in India collapsed into a river after heavy rains caused flooding in the region over the weekend. People watched nearby as the home slowly fell backwards before ending up in the water, just one of several homes that were damaged as a result of the weather.
According to local reports, at least 21 people have died. A district magistrate in Kottayam, P.K. Jayasree, told reporters three bodies had been recovered Saturday, with another nine were found on Sunday.
While annual rainfall in the country is considered essential as rains support two-thirds of the 1.3 billion people who live in rural areas and rely on farming, excessive rainfall often results in flooding and landslides.
