Global National: Jan. 27, 2022 | Protest convoy sparks concerns over possible extremist violence

Security worries are rising in Ottawa ahead of the fast-approaching truck convoy, as their demands to end vaccine mandates spiral into a hostile movement. As Jeff Semple reports, there are concerns the far-right extremist groups latching onto the protest could possibly incite violence in the capital.

Meanwhile, months after Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole’s defeat in the federal election, a long-awaited post-mortem report of the campaign has been delivered to party MPs, detailing O’Toole’s performance. David Akin explains how the report suggests the Tories’ campaign fell short and why critics say the findings go too easy on O’Toole.

With Canada’s long-term care homes hard-hit in the pandemic, a new draft of national standards by the Health Standards Organization offers new insight on Canada’s potential strategy to improve the lives of residents.
