Exercise Northern Edge 2021 – Why The Navy Trains in the North West
The U.S. Navy is committed to being a steward of the environment while the fleet’s ships, aircraft, and personnel participate in U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s biennial joint training exercise, Northern Edge, in Alaska. This U.S. Pacific Air Forces-led exercise provides an opportunity for military forces to practice high-end, realistic warfighter training and joint service interoperability. The Gulf of Alaska is an important training area due to its unique cold-water environment and large available space to support complex, realistic scenarios (U.S. Navy video by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Marc Cuenca)
