Coronavirus: Trudeau discusses Canada’s COVID-19 response plan after Moderna vaccine approved | LIVE
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is ex[ected to provide an update Wednesday following the approval of Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine.
Officials have said they expect doses of the Moderna vaccine to arrive in Canada within 48 hours of approval. The government has inked a deal to get 168,000 doses of the vaccine by the end of December.
Government officials are will provide more information on the COVID-19 vaccine rollout at 2pm.
Canada reported 6,191 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, pushing the total number of infections in the country to 521,086. Health officials across the country also confirmed 93 more people have died after testing positive for COVID-19.
The new cases and deaths also come as the country works to determine if a new, potentially more transmissible strain of the virus that has been spreading rapidly in the U.K., has made its way to Canada.
