Ontario health officials are expected to deliver an update on the province’s COVID-19 situation Thursday, as a stay-at-home comes into effect across the province.
During Tuesday’s briefing on the province’s COVID-19 modelling projections, Dr. Adalsteinn (Steini) Brown, co-chair of the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, said if daily mortality continues to increase under current COVID-19 restrictions, the province could see 50 to 100 deaths per day between now and the end of February.
Ontario is reporting 3,326 new cases of the coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the provincial total to 228,310.
Thursday’s case count is higher than Wednesday’s which saw 2,961 new infections. On Tuesday, 2,903 new cases were recorded.
