Hundreds of protesters dressed in white took to the streets of various cities in Colombia on Tuesday to demonstrate against the unrest and blockades seen in the country amid tense protests.
Those marching were calling for the end to the violence and for free movement to be restored in hard-hit areas like Cali, arguing that the protest blockades are creating a heavy burden for jobs and the economy.
The Andean country has seen nearly a month of demonstrations and thousands of blockades, and while protest leaders have reached pre-agreements for talks with the government, they have promised marches against inequality and police abuse, among other things, will continue. The governments says 17 deaths are directly connected to past protests, but human rights groups claim there are dozens more.
